Elections and Veterans Day

What a great week!  Boy, was it busy though!  We had an election in kindergarten to help teach students about the real election.  Thanks to some great ideas from the first grade teachers and First Grade Parade, we read Duck for President, Grace for President, and My Teacher for President.  Students voted for their choice for president! We also read a fantastic book, I Can Be President, Too!  This talked about the different character traits that presidents need.  Students then wrote what charatcter traits they have so they should be chosen for president.  Check out our pictures below.

This week we also had our Veterans Day Assembly.  It always is so amazing to see how many Veterans come.  The students do such a great job singing and preforming in the band.  We read Hero Dad which is a must read for any child on Veterans Day.

We also wrote about Veterans as a class and individually using Deanna Jump's cute little Veterans idea. The students came up with some many great ideas for their writing!  A big thanks goes to Miss Mary, our volunteer, for helping us paint the camouflage!
