Veterans' Day

Our Veterans' Day was quite a success.  Our Veterans' Day Program is always heart-warming with our fantastic band, choir, speeches, and of course hearing the students sing patriotic songs.  It is so special to see all of the veterans come out for the program.
This year I wanted to do more so the students truly understand why we have a program like we do.  We read two fantastic books this year thanks to our wonderful librarian!  Here are the books:

We then talked about what qualities does a soldier need to have.  I was so impressed with some of my students' answers!  Some of them were brave, American, peacemakers, nice, strong, and more!

Students also made little soldiers similar to the ones that Deanna Jump made.  Check some out below.
